The Lynn Tech swimming team made the kind of splash it hoped for in its first meet of 2015, securing its first victory of the season, 87-71, over visiting Minuteman Regional on Friday.
?Picking up our first win of the season was the perfect way to start off the new year,” Tigers coach Brad Tilley said.
Senior Jake Kennedy and junior Nick Westin each earned two individual victories in addition to forming half of two winning relay squads. Kennedy took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.72 and 100-yard freestyle (1:05.48) while Westin prevailed in the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.9) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:45.74). It was Westin?s first time ever swimming the 200 IM.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Kennedy and Westin joined with junior Jaleem Alicea and senior Renaldo Mirthil to swim a combined 5:02.22. Kennedy, Westin and Mirthil then teamed up with junior Joie Donnelly to take the 200-yard medley relay (2:22.03)

?We’re really starting to jell as a team,” Tilley said.
