The Bishop Fenwick track team was at less than 100 percent on Tuesday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston as 14 Crusaders were missing because of illness. But that didn?t slow down coach Steve Czarnecki?s team much.
Lindsay Donahue was a triple winner while Mitch Rivers and Cam Mirra each won two events to lead the Crusaders to a crushing, 106-41, win over Archbishop Williams.
?Everyone really ran well,” Czarnecki said. “Our depth and strength really showed.”
Donahue won the 55-meter dash in 8.05 seconds, the 300-meter race in 47.50 and the long jump with a distance of 14 feet 9 inches.
Rivers won the boys? 300-meter race (38.8) and high jump, while Mirra won the boys? 55-meter dash (7.2) and long jump (18-11).
Also winning for the 5-0 Crusaders were Kate Deltorchio in the 600-meter race (1:48.36), Merry Harrington in the high jump (4-7), Nora Birner in the 55-meter hurdles (12.1), Dan Tremblay in the shot put (39-0), Rob Carillo in the 55-meter hurdles (9.36), Matt Loehle in the two-mile race (12:14) and Pat Walsh in the 1000 meters (2:58.35).
St. Mary?s 93, Marian 48
The Spartans (2-3) dominated from the start against the Mustangs. Brendan Donahue was a double winner for St. Mary?s, taking the 300 meters (41.57) and long jump (14-11). Also winning for the Spartans was Abraham Toe in the 55-meter dash (7.12), Tony Mwangi (two miles, 10:54.45), Fred Blaise (shot put, 35-8), Shane O?Neill (55-meter hurdles, 9.72), Tia Foglietta (mile, 5:36.85), Paige Fielding (high jump, 4-3), Mollie Mello (long jump, 12-5) and Diana Hallisey (55-meter hurdles, 11.13).
BOYS? TRACK
Gloucester 71, Saugus 15
Gloucester (5-0, 4-0 Northeastern Conference/South) won all but one event against the 1-3 Sachems. Taking wins for Gloucester were Noah Hiller in the shot put at 47 feet, one-half inch, Jared Marshall (55-meter hurdles, 7.7 seconds), Justin Tucker (55-meter dash, 6.8), Jebediah Hogan (300 meters, 40.7), Matt Ciaramitaro (600 meters, 1:32.0), Everest Crawford (1000 meters, 2:38.4), Willy Pierce (mile, 4:54.0) and Kyle Frost (two miles, 12:25.0).
Saugus? lone win came from Alex Kotowski in the high jump (5-5).
GIRLS? TRACK
Gloucester 60, Saugus 25
The Sachems swept the shot put, led by Ailyn Minaya?s winning throw of 31 feet, one-half inch, but didn?t have the depth to hang with Gloucester, which won all the other events but the high jump.
Taking first places for Gloucester were Lily Kuhns in the 55-meter hurdles (9.9), Gloria Kabulo (55-meter dash, 7.5), Matilda Grow (300 meters, 49.0), Sabrina Marnoto (600 meters, 1:54.7), Rachel Alexander (1000 meters, 3:31.5), Carly Curcuru (mile, 5:34.1) and Melanie MacDonald (two miles, 13:42).
Saugus? Gianna Filaretos won the high jump, at 5 feet 1 inch, with Mikayla Perella taking second in the shot put (30-8 ?).
BOYS? HOCKEY
Malden Catholic 4, St. John?s Prep 2
The Eagles (6-3-0, 1-3-0 Catholic Conference) were doomed by a three-goal outburst by the Lancers late in the second period.
After a scoreless opening frame, Tyler Scearbo gave St. John?s a 1-0 lead midway through the second. It stayed that way until MC (6-0-0, 4-0-0) tied the game at 11:40 on Tim Matthews? goal. Jack Adams gave the Lancers the lead at 14:40.Nick Botticelli, who assisted on Adams?s goal, scored 10 seconds later to make it 3-1 after two. Billy Falter and Austin Goldstein traded power-play goals in the third period to close the scoring.
