The Beverly boy?s track team rolled through its tri-meet Wednesday afternoon, blowing out both Lynn English and Revere in impressive fashion. Matt Madden had a big day for the Panthers, finishing first in the shot put and 50-yard dash in both meets. David Drinkwater also had a nice meet, placing first in the high jump against English and second against Revere. He also finished second to Madden in the 50-yard dash in both meets.
Jordy Rawding won the 300-meter races in both meets, while Bryan Flaherty took the 600 meters in both meets. To round out the winners for Beverly, Christian Goodwin took first in the 1000 meters in both meets, Campbell Wood placed first in the mile run in both meets and Zach Bauer finished first in the two-mile run in both meets.
The lone winner for English was Matthew Moorehouse, who took first in the 50-yard hurdles. For Revere, Lionel Forbes won the 50-yard hurdles and Nelson Cevallos took first place in the high jump.
GIRLS? TRACK
Beverly 77, Lynn English 9
Beverly 79, Revere 7
The Crusaders had no trouble dominating this tri-meet with English and Revere, sweeping all the events in both meets. The Panthers ran away from the competition right out of the gate. Kendel Davy had a particularly good pair of meets, placing first in the high jump and 50-yard hurdles in both. Gracie Sparkman took first in the shot put, and Haylea Northcott won both 50-yard dashes. Aly Barr won both 300-meter races, while Julie Curtin won both 600 meters, and Abby Walsh won both 1000 meters. In the longer distances, Julianna Wesley won both mile races and Maeve Monahan won both two-mile races.
SWIMMING
Bishop Fenwick 104, Matignon 63
The Crusaders mustered a great team effort Wednesday against Matignon, and they were rewarded with their fifth straight win in impressive fashion. Fenwick placed first in 10 of the 11 events, led largely by the Christuk brothers, Carson and Connor.
Individually, Carson Christuk finished first in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 2:27.19, and in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01). He also teamed up with Sarah Long, Garrett Collins and Emily Ambeliotis to take first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:07.12). Then he joined Connor Christuk, Long and Ambeliotis took place first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:20.94).
Connor Christuk also joined Collins, Rowan Emerson and David Connelly to win the 200-freestyle relay (1:57.53). Individually, Connor Christuk finished first in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles (1:59.93 and 6:06.30, respectively).
Ambeliotis also won two individual events, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.01) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.82). Rowan Emerson rounded out the list of winners with a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.75).
Lynn Tech 87, Blue Hills 82
The Lynn Tech Tigers took home their third straight win as they beat Blue Hills in a close match on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers (3-2) had three double-winners on their side. Jake Kennedy won both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle races (3:38.80). Nick Westin won the 500-yard freestyle, with a personal-best time of 6:16.48, and the 200-yard individual medley (2:43.17). Juan Pablo Cifuentes was also double winner, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle (0:31.61) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:38.90). The Tigers won the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Westin, Kennedy, Joie Donnelly and Santiago Zulaga at a time of 2:23.65.
GYMNASTICS
Reading 127.85, Bishop Fenwick 127.15
Despite having five team members out with the flu, the Bishop Fenwick Crusaders (2-2) put up a great fight against Reading, losing by just seven-tenths of a point. Taylor Patton had a terrific meet, finishing first all-around with a score of 34.7. She also finished first on the beam (9.0) and first on the floor (9.5).
