Lynnfield’s Kelter lawyers upCongratulations to Lynnfield resident Katherine Ann Kelter, who was recently admitted to the Massachusetts Bar during a ceremony at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Kelter, a 2005 Lynnfield High School graduate, works as an associate litigation attorney at Conn, Kavanaugh, Rosenthal, Peisch and Ford, a Boston law firm. A 2014 Suffolk University Law School cum laude graduate, Kelter graduated from Harvard University in 2009, where she studied biology and languages. She is the daughter of Brian and Elaine Kelter and the granddaughter of Flora and the late Walter J. Kelter Jr. of Lynn and Helen and the late Everett Moran of Lynn. She has a younger sister, Karen, and a brother, Brian Jr.St. Mary’s to Krause: Thanks for everythingAt its annual end-of-the-season banquet, at Spinelli’s in Lynnfield on Tuesday, the St. Mary’s football team recognized a longtime member of The Item staff. St. Mary’s coach Matt Durgin presented Steve Krause with a plaque in appreciation of his ongoing commitment to youth sports. Krause, who was recently promoted to news editor, had been the paper’s sports editor for 16 years and has been with The Item for 35 years.City lawyer’s daughter waxes poetic on MLKCongratulations to Katherine Lamanna, daughter of Jim Lamanna of the city’s law department. Kate was one three students in Boston Public Schools to be recognized for her poem about Martin Luther King. Katherine, a fifth-grader at Warren Prescott School, was honored Thursday at the Strand Theater in Dorchester.Here’s the award-winning poem:In the dark times, where there was hate,And the color of your skin could determine your fate,Dr. King led the march,And, said, brothers and sisters, let’s be judged by our hearts,Let’s create a world where the color of our skin,Doesn’t matter as much as is within.Now, we learn together, all colors, black and white,We’ve driven out the darkness and brought in the light.But we need to remember to do what is right,And not pick on others who may not be as coolRemembers words hurt; try not to be cruel.Respect different looks and other points of view,Realize the different one might just be you.
