Even Lynn Classical coach Tom Grassa was a little surprised that his Rams rolled past Marblehead, 60-33, on Tuesday night.
?I really was expecting a much closer game,” Grassa said “We just got them on a night when we were hot and they were cold from the field.”
The Rams (6-7) knocked down seven three-pointers in the first half and nine total in the game. Phil Rogers led the Classical attack with 13 points while Calvin Johnson and Peter Mafo each added 12.
Classical led 19-6 after a quarter and 39-14 at halftime as the Magicians (5-6) struggled to find the basket. Will Millett had 12 points to lead Marblehead while Angel Perez added nine points and 10 rebounds.
?(Classical) just beat us in every phase of the game,” Marblehead coach Mike Giardi said.
Greater Lawrence 73, Lynn Tech 56
The first quarter was the difference as Greater Lawrence outscored Tech, 23-7, and made that difference hold up the rest of the way. Michael Anaya had 14 points to lead the Tigers (0-12) while Justin Lewis chipped in with 12.
Salem 76, Swampscott 46
The Witches (9-3) got 16 points from Joel Nunez to lead four players who finished in double figures. Bryan Martinez and Michael Sanchez had 11 apiece while Kelvin Perpetuo added 10.
Salem was in control the whole way, leading 22-8 after a quarter and 44-24 at halftime. Swampscott (5-7) got 12 points from Joey Ragusa and eight from Dujour Dunkley.
Cardinal Spellman 63, Bishop Fenwick 57
The Crusaders (1-9) put together one of their best efforts of the season in leading the defending Division 3 state champions for most of the game. Spellman, however, rallied in the final four minutes to steal the win.
Ryan Veguilla had 15 points to lead Fenwick. Myles Connor added 13 points and 11 rebounds while J.P. Reiling had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Beverly 59, Winthrop 41
It was a balanced attack that did the job for the 3-8 Panthers. Gavin Sparkman led Beverly with 10 points with Pat Gavin adding nine. Ryan Garrity and Kyle Coughlin finished with eight apiece.
Danvers 94, Revere 49
Danvers (10-0) remains the only unbeaten team in the Northeastern Conference. Devan Harris poured in 22 points with six rebounds for the Falcons. Vinny Clifford buried six three pointers on the way to 20 points.
Peabody 59, Gloucester 47The Tanners (6-5) used a strong second half to dispatch the Fishermen. Matt D?Amato had 16 points and five assists to lead Peabody. Junior Estrella added 15 points while point guard Matt Correale finished with 10 points.
