School Roundup: Jets third period charge downs Shawsheen

January 23, 2015 by Matthew Roy

If the Lynn Jets wind up qualifying for the Division 3 North tournament, Thursday?s 6-4 win over Shawsheen at Hallenborg Pavilion might be a game that coach Joe Conlon looks back at as a major turning point.
The Jets led 2-0 in the first five minutes of the game before seeing Shawsheen score four unanswered goals to carry a 4-2 lead into the third period. That?s where Lynn turned it up, scoring in the opening minute to cut the lead to one before adding three goals in the final 4:49 to win it.
?The effort (Thursday) was outstanding,” Conlon said. “I hope that we proved something to ourselves that we can win some of these games. We started well and we finished well.”
Lynn (4-6-1) took the lead just :26 into the game on Corey Wojewodzic?s goal, assisted by Mark Brazell. That duo then picked up helpers on Brandon Devin?s goal that made it 2-0 at 4:29 of the first.
The Rams, however, scored three times in a 5:13 span later in the period to take a 3-2 lead after one. Zack Buckland added a goal late in the second to make it 4-2 Shawsheen through 30 minutes.
Brazell ignited the comeback in the first minute of the third, assisted by Bubba Comeau. Kyle Morrill then tied the game with 4:49 left before Brett Molea?s unassisted goal at 13:12 gave Lynn a 5-4 lead. Morrill?s empty-net tally with :33 left capped the remarkable rally.
?We showed some pretty good character after the first period,” Conlon said. “It?s a huge win for us.”
