January 28, 2015 by Thor Jourgensen

Human remains discovered by a dog walker on Kings Beach in Swampscott this morning have been taken to the office of the chief medical examiner in Boston for identification, according to Swampscott Police Det. Sgt. Timothy Cassidy. Also, investigators used a front-end loader to dig up material on the beach at the location where the police investigation centered throughout the day — a spot approximately 70 feet from the Stacey Brook sewerage outfall on the Lynn-Swampscott line. Police carefully placed the material on a Swampscott DPW dump truck and it left the area at approximately 1:45 p.m. under police escort.Family members and friends of Jaimee Mendez, a 25-year-old Swampscott woman who has been missing since Nov. 6, were at the scene and spoke to police on several occasions.According to a release from the Essex District Attorney’s office, “It is too early to speculate as to possible identity.”Follow The Daily Item on Twitter @Itemlive for more details.
