Call him Chief ShovelerMembers of the Lynn Fire Department spent the day Wednesday traveling the city and digging out fire hydrants, while taking to social media to ask that residents help them out by clearing snow from their neighborhood hydrants. With that in mind, Chief Jim McDonald figured he better chip in as well.So there was McDonald Wednesday morning, walking through Central Square with shovel in tow. He came upon a snow-bound hydrant on Exchange Street and promptly started digging.”I figured if my guys are out here doing it, and we are asking the public to help out, I should be out here, too,” he said.Well done, chief.
