LYNN – Police confirmed Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy was involved in “a minor fender bender” accident Thursday evening at Broad and Washington streets. No one was injured or cited as a result of the accident, said Lt. David Brown.”I understand it was a minor fender bender, and she is fine,” Brown said.A reporter responding to the 8:26 p.m. accident saw Kennedy seated behind the wheel of the vehicle bearing the mayor’s official blue license plate with the number “7” on it. Asked if she was OK, Kennedy responded, “Yeah.”A woman at the scene identified herself as the driver of the other vehicle, a gray 2008 Acura, involved in the accident. The Item could not obtain her identity. Brown identified her as a 22-year-old Salem woman, but did not immediately have the woman’s name available Thursday evening.Brown said Police Officer Gregory Brotherton responded to the accident. The Acura appeared to have sustained damage to one corner, and it was towed from the scene.
