Not even the Blizzard of 2015 was able to cool off the red-hot performances of the Lynn Classical swimming team, which defeated Swampscott, 95-80, Thursday at the Lynn Tech pool.
?It was a wonderful feeling to get both teams here safely and back into the pool,” said Rams coach Denise Silva, whose team improved to 5-3.
The Rams put on a clinic in diving where Sarah Sirois set the Classical program?s all-time record with 240.65 points, which also broke the Tech pool?s record.
In addition to the historic effort, Sirois? teammates, Bobby Choquette (194.40) and Wallace Kiongo (192.05) placed second and third, respectively, qualifying for sectionals in the process.
?All three of them had exceptional routines,” said Silva who lauded the mentoring of diving coach Don McKenney, who is a member of the Tech and Lynn English coaching staffs as well.
?I take my hat off to him and really cannot say enough about all of the work Don has done with each of the city?s high school swimming programs,” said Silva.
Another Classical sweep in the 50-yard freestyle featured a first-place finish from Eric Macorri in 27.13 seconds, ahead of Simon Kazimierczyk (27.62) and Alex Pedro (28.40).
