McGee continuing transportation workLeadership reshuffling in the state Senate has preserved state Sen. Thomas M. McGee’s status as Senate chairman of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Transportation. McGee has held the chairmanship since 2011, and used the position to repeatedly warn about Massachusetts’ deteriorating highways, bridges and other public infrastructure.As a veteran senator, McGee also serves as chairman of the Children’s Caucus, and he has been reappointed to the Senate committees on Ways and Means and Global Warming and Climate Change and the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies. He also serves on the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture.Pizza, comedy at Classical benefitBack by popular demand, the Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical High School (LCHS) will host its second annual pizza/comedy night Thursday, March 19 at Prince Pizzeria, 517 Broadway, Route 1 Saugus, to benefit the Alumni and Friends of LCHS scholarship fund. Doors will open at 6 p.m., pizza and salad will be served at 7 p.m. and comedy show will start at 8 p.m.The night will also include a 50-50 raffle, featuring several Lynn restaurants, and a silent auction.The cost is $25, and tickets are limited to 150. They cannot be purchased at the door, but tickets can be reserved for pickup.
