It took a little while on Tuesday night for Lynn English to get going but once the Bulldogs were at full steam Peabody didn?t stand a chance at the Paul F. Cavanagh Field House. Anthony Silfa had a game-high 23 points and Johnny Hilaire added 18 as the Bulldogs (14-1) beat the Tanners 90-53.
?We shot horribly in the first half and that was the basis of our talk at halftime,” Bulldogs coach Mike Carr said. “For us, there?s a repetition to the things that we do and if it?s not going all the time, we?re just a normal team.”
The Bulldogs shot just 14-for-41 in the first half, but outscored the Tanners, 56-28, in the second half.
Silfa and Hilaire had plenty of help on Tuesday. Jordan Lark had 13 points and Erick Rosario added 12 despite being saddled with foul trouble for most of the contest.
?Johnny and Jordan are starting to do things that they weren?t in the first half of the season,” Carr said. “It?s really big for us to be able to play inside and outside.”
Peabody (9-7) hung tough through the first half and trailed by only nine (34-25) at the break. But the Bulldogs put up 33 points in the third quarter to blow the game wide open.
?English is fantastic,” Tanners coach Thad Broughton said. “We played a pretty good first half but (English) was unbelievable in the second half.”
Brendan Morrison had 10 points to lead Peabody, which also got eight from Junior Estrella and seven from David Hoar.
