LYNN ? According to a survey by a state real estate company, Lynn was No. 10 among the “Top 25 Hottest Towns in Massachusetts” for home buying in 2014.A recent report put out by the realty agency McGeough Lamacchia, which serves both Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, comes from the Warren Group, which collects and compiles data on real estate sales and ownership throughout New England. The numbers from the Warren Group’s data shows that Lynn had a 6.5 percent increase between 2013 and 2014. In the same report, Peabody came in at No. 11, with a 6.3 percent increase from 2013 to 2014.Lynn is becoming more desirable for home buyers, said M&L marketing coordinator Greg Bogosian, and the volume of sales results in an increase in prices. There are more people looking to live in Lynn, he said, and that could be because of its prominent location. It’s close to Boston (10 miles north) and its commuter rail line makes it a convenient commute into the city.”This reflects the fact we’re turning the corner,” said Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy. “Those of us who live and work in the city have felt it. But this confirms it in black and white.”Bogosian says he is not aware of specific reasons residents are drawn to living in Lynn, but he is aware of the variety the city has to offer with its recreations of playgrounds, ball fields and an indoor swimming pool at the YMCA.Most towns usually come and go from the list, Bogosian said, but making the list in general is a positive sign for the community.”It shows that people are willing to buy a home in that town and commit to it,” he said. This is also good for the economy because people are investing in communities and causing economic growth.Anthony Lamacchia, owner of the firm, praised Lynn for its turnaround.”Lynn is recovering well from the foreclosure crisis that occurred,” Lamacchia said. The company consists of Real Estate brokers, some of whom act as consultants for different media, including the Wall Street Journal.
