Starbard reaching for the starsJessica Starbard, Lynn English ’09, is moving on. The daughter of School Committeeman Rick Starbard, she has left her job at WBKB in Apena, Mich., where she had worked for six months, and will become weekend sports anchor and a reporter for WANE Fort TV in Fort Wayne, Ind.”I’m very appreciative of WBKB for this job and everyone from back home who followed my videos on Facebook, from my parents, my boyfriend, The Daily Item to Rolly’s Tavern,” she said. “They gave me a market I can’t refuse. I’m in market 208 now, but I’m moving to market 111, which means that more households watch it.”Fort Wayne is Indiana’s second biggest city, after Indianapolis, and opportunities range from Notre Dame, Purdue University, minor leagues to high school sports.”I couldn’t be more thrilled,” Rick Starbard said. “I’m so proud of what’s she’s accomplished. She’s a hard worker, and whatever she sets her mind to, she achieves it. She’s making a big jump to a bigger market and a bigger city with more professional sports teams.”She graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston with a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies and political science in 2013.Payin’ with Lovin’Who says a little lovin’ can’t go a long way?McDonald’s thinks so. The hamburger giant is running a promotion where randomly selected customers can pay for their meals by expressing love for someone or something, rather than handing over money. One such selected customer was Aaron Jones of Revere, who got to show off his victory dance/fist bump prowess at the McDonald’s store at 567 Lynnway in Lynn.McDonald’s says this is more than just an ad campaign. It’s a way to bring positivity back, the company says.
