On Monday, Burt was named Hockey East’s Rookie of the Week after backstopping BC to wins over Northeastern and UConn. It’s the fourth weekly honor that Burt has garnered from the league in her freshman season.
Burt began the week by helping BC reach its 15thBeanpot championship game as she shut down the Huskies in a 3-1 win. Later in the week, Burt turned in her seventh shutout of the season when the Eagles defeated UConn, 6-0.
The seven shutouts are second on the Eagles? single-season list behind the 10 posted by Molly Schaus in 2008. Burt?s 0.99 goals against average is tops in the nation while her .947 save percentage is tied for second nationally with Bemidji State’s Brittni Mowat behind North Dakota’s Shelby Amsley-Benzie (.950).
BC is scheduled to play Tuesday as it looks for the Beanpot title against No. 4-ranked Harvard.
Carpenter flying for Eagles
One of Burt’s teammates, who also has local ties, is also having a season to remember.
Alex Carpenter, daughter of Stanley Cup winner and St. John’s prep star Bob Carpenter, leads the nation with 62 points in only 27 games this season.
Carpenter, who has led the Eagles to a pair of Frozen Fours during her time at the Heights, recorded a point in every game until BC’s win over UConn on Friday night when she was held scoreless.
Carpenter has racked up 81 goals and 172 points in less than three full seasons at BC. She took last year off to play for Team USA, captained by Danvers’ Meghan Duggan, which won the silver medal at the Winter Olympics.

St. A’s is currently second in the ECAC East standings with a 14-4-2 record.
Tatiana Doucette, who left St. Mary’s last year after winning a state title in 2013, has recorded three points in 20 games for the Southern Maine women?s team.

A trio of local players have made solid contributions to the Vikings? success.
