SAUGUS – The ballot has been drawn for the recall election.According to Town Clerk Ellen J. Schena, there was one physical ballot with eight names, or ballot questions, listed – similar to any other election. They are as follows (in order): Seat 1 (Selectman Paul H. Allan?s seat): Allan, Jeffrey V. Cicolini and Arthur Grabowski; Seat 2 (Selectman Stephen L. Castinetti): Grabowski, Castinetti and Mark D. Mitchell; Seat 3 (Selectman Maureen Dever): Grabowski, Jennifer E. D?Eon, Dever; Seat 4 (Selectman Ellen Faiella): Scott Brazis, Faiella and Grabowski.According to Election Coordinator Elizabeth Trask, who wrote down the names in the order placed on the ballot, the order is random, and the names are chosen much like a bingo revolving ball.?It is customary that the candidates write their initials besides their names when they?re present,” Trask said. “Although Arthur Grabowski, Paul Allan and Stephen L. Castinetti weren?t present, we?ll send them an email to let them know the order.”Grabowski, who serves on the School Committee, is running independently while the others are running against the incumbents in an effort called Save Saugus.Jeffrey V. Cicolini, who is part of the Save Saugus movement, said he wasn?t overly concerned one way or another about what the ballot ultimately looked like. He said more than 125 people came to the welcoming ceremony for the new Save Saugus chair Arthur Gustafson Wednesday and that number reflects an interest.?I don?t think it?ll come down to what position was drawn,” Cicolini said. “People know who we are and what we stand for as far as the recall and having us replace the incumbents. I?m confident that my blend of knowledge, relevant business experience, education and dedication is exactly what the town needs right now.”But D?Eon, also part of Save Saugus, has a different take on what position was drawn. She only ran against Dever.?I withdrew my other papers and decided to only run for that seat,” D?Eon said. “I?m very happy. I got a good position on the ballot.”D?Eon said she received the position she was hoping for.Dever said it?s exciting when anyone is running for office.?Some people put a lot of thought into the seat,” Dever said. “All of our voters are intelligent and support their candidates well. It?s a wonderful tradition.”Dever suggests they fix and update the latch on the “bingo ball.”She isn?t sure of the Seat 1, 2, 3 and 4 designations.?There?s nothing in the regulations regarding election seat numbers,” Dever said. “I?m not sure her designation of the seats. Perhaps (Trask) will give an explanation.”Many candidates brought their families, including husbands and children, with them to hear the results.
