Promotion for HaywardKerry Hayward is expanding the pool of teachers who will benefit from her educational knowledge with her promotion from district coach to program specialist at Marshall Middle School. The School Committee approved the promotion on Thursday and the committee’s vote in her favor means Hayward will manage ways teachers can incorporate best teaching practices into classroom instruction. She currently works directly with teachers, instructing them on “best practices” for adapting their classroom curriculum. Hayward is an 11-year veteran of the Lynn Public Schools.Spring fling for Bob S.Weather is calling the shots for a sold-out benefit comedy show and afternoon of music to help comedian Bob Seibel fight cancer. Originally scheduled for Feb. 8 at St. Michael’s Hall, the benefit got cancelled and kicked back to Sunday only to see organizers rethink the new date in light of yet another blizzard scheduled to hit the region tonight. The new date is April 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Keep those fingers crossed.Hooray for Marshall math wizardsCongratulations to Marshall Middle School “First In Math” champions Sam Lauren-Ofurie, Ike Oranekwu, Mariama Keita, Jacqueline Lopez and Marco Gomez for earning first-place honors and helping make Marshall a “top math” school. The students competed for the honor last October and were recognized by the School Committee for their accomplishment on Thursday.
