The Lynn City Mission food pantry is reopening this weekend in a new location, at 88 Broad St.The organization has been serving food to hungry and needy families for 33 years. Executive Director Muriel Chase says the organization has grown to feed more families over time.?When we started, we served 10 families a week,” Chase said. “Now we serve 300 families a week.”That makes the Lynn City Mission the largest food organization in the city of Lynn, she said. The need for a new location is due in part to the growth the organization has seen over time.?We needed a larger space, so this new location is perfect for us,” Chase said.Chase said that the opening was scheduled for last weekend but delayed due to the weather.?We wanted to reopen on Saturday, but we were snowed out,” Chase said, “so we’re getting the snow shoveled out and our volunteers are working to get things ready.”In order for families to be served food, identification is required for qualification purposes. The Lynn City Mission will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
