LYNN – Nobody was reported injured, but 10 adults and seven children were displaced by a two-alarm fire on Broad Street Tuesday night, next to the Mary Baker Eddy House.Firefighters responded to 18 Broad St. at approximately 6:43 p.m. Tuesday, and a second alarm was rung at 6:49 p.m., according to Lynn District Chief Stephen Archer. About 15 minutes later, one could see smoke primarily pouring out of the third-floor dormers on a 2 ?-story home with a mansard roof. But the casing of a second-floor window overlooking the parking lot to the Eddy House was aflame, and the flames extended up to the eaves. The flames were quickly extinguished, however, by firefighters moving through the home. Only minimal spray appeared to hit the roof of the Eddy House – especially compared with the water that flowed down the walls of the affected house as firefighters threw clothes out of the third-floor window and onto the snowbanks below.Neighbor Renee Daly brought over coats for a first-floor resident and his wife, both of whom were away from the scene when the fire began.”I’ve been through it, and you run out with what you’ve got on,” Daly said.Archer said the Red Cross was helping 10 adults and seven children who were temporarily displaced by the blaze. He also said crews remained on scene investigating the cause of the fire and cleaning up.
