Winthrop’s Todisco named NEC Hockey MVP

The Winthrop hockey team exceeded expectations for many this season en route to winning the Northeastern Conference/North title and earning a likely top-three seed in the upcoming Division 2 North tournament.
Junior forward Pat Todisco has been named as the conference’s MVP when the league announced its boys’ hockey all-star team. Winthrop coach Dale Dunbar was named coach of the year after leading the Vikings to a 15-3-2 record in the regular season.
Todisco led Winthrop with 29 points, ranking him second in the conference in scoring behind Saugus’ Nik Straticos. Todisco and Straticos (15-15-30) were named as two of the three all-conference forwards along with Peabody senior Reed Foster.
Winthrop netminder Ray Feeley was chosen as the all-conference goalie with Danvers?s Steve Ganley and Beverly’s Jesse McLaughlin selected as defensemen.
Winthrop led with seven all-stars. Danvers and Marblehead each had five players selected to the team with four each for Salem and Gloucester. Lynn’s Mark Brazell and Owen Sedille were selected along with Swampscott’s Mike Johnson and Ryan Cresta.
The league will hold its annual all-star competition on Saturday at Rockett Arena in Salem. The skills competition will be at 5 p.m. followed by the game at 6.
The all-stars will be divided into two teams, white jerseys and dark jersey.
The white team includes goalies Nick Holt (Salem) and Alex Taylor (Danvers); defensemen Max Vittands (Gloucester), James Curley (Danvers), Donnie Shaw (Peabody), Eli Spector (Salem) and Steve Ganley (Danvers). Forwards Jack Nicastro (Gloucester), Ryan Buchanan (Danvers), Reed Foster (Peabody), Chris Sanderson (Saugus), Rob Tibbetts (Danvers), Jared Favazza (Gloucester), Derek Zweircan (Salem), Mike Gillis (Salem), Nik Straticos (Saugus) and Eddie Mahoney (Gloucester).The dark team includes goalies Maxx Anderson (Revere), Ray Feeley (Winthrop), Mark Scribner (Marblehead); defensemen P.J. Roy (Marblehead), Sean Gillis (Winthrop), Owen Sedille (Lynn), Jesse MacLaughlin (Beverly) and Dan Brogan (Winthrop); forwards Cam McDonald (Marblehead), Ted Leathersich (Beverly), Alex Anzuoni (Winthrop), Brendan Boyle (Beverly), Mark Brazell (Lynn), Pat Todisco (Winthrop), Mike Johnson (Swampscott), Tim Kalinowski (Marblehead), Charlie Page (Winthrop), Ryan Cresta (Swampscott), Mike Norris (Winthrop) and Braden Haley (Marblehead).
