Swampscott Police seek help in finding shoplifting suspect

SWAMPSCOTT – Police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect in an alleged shoplifting and assault Monday.Police responded at 5:10 p.m. Monday to a report of a shoplifting and assault at Marshall’s on Paradise Road and met with a store clerk. The clerk reported trying to confront the suspect for allegedly stealing some merchandise, but the woman got into her car and then backed up and hit the clerk, Swampscott Police Sgt. Tim Cassidy said.Cassidy said police traced the car to a rental agency at Logan Airport. Cassidy said the woman stole approximately $176 of merchandise.The suspect is described as a thin white woman with light or blondish hair. Anybody with any information on the suspect’s identity is asked to call Swampscott Police detectives at 781-595-1111.
