REVERE – When Showcase Cinemas first opened in Revere, in 1938, moviegoers had to watch the film from the seats of their cars. That has changed significantly in the ensuing 77 years. The complex has completed a theater-wide renovation, including a seating upgrade. Since making the transition from a drive-in theater to an indoor theater in 1982, Showcase Cinemas has already seen various amounts of renovations. Now that the current job has been completed, every seat in every auditorium is a luxury recliner. In addition, it’s possible now to reserve seats ahead of time.”This makes going to the movies more relaxing for the customer,” said Tony Pungitore, director of National Amusements. “Now that you already have a reserved seat, guests are able to grab something to eat or a cocktail at our full-service restaurant, Chatters.”Guests will also experience their movies in Xplus, the large-screen format featuring Dolby Atmos sound.”We keep reinventing the space, and we plan on continuing to reinvent it,” said Pungitore, adding, “We are working on a huge surprise for our customers that is going to be a very big deal when it happens.”
