Castinetti looks to finish the job

March 10, 2015 by Tara Vocino

SAUGUS – Stephen Castinetti, three-time elected member of the Board of Selectmen and two-term vice chair, is seeking to keep his seat in next week?s recall election. He said he would like to see the existing board finish its term, citing accomplishments since he was re-elected in November 2013.?This board has eliminated grease trap waivers, restricted the number of taxi licenses, controlled the number of constables in town and restricted the types of entertainment that would be allowed in liquor establishments, to name just a few,” he said.Castinetti said the board has taken its charge to heart and done what it was elected to do in regards to acting professionally, responsibly and in the best interests of the residents of Saugus at all times. He explained the background of how they got there.?In November of 2013, the residents of Saugus spoke loudly and clearly at the polls and ousted the majority of the previous Board of Selectmen, including the chairman and a 10-year incumbent after two years of less-than-professional performance,” Castinetti said. “Tired of the suppression of people?s rights and obvious collusion between three of the previous board?s members, the citizens of Saugus recognized an opportunity to do better. And they did.”?This board has acted with unquestioned integrity (and an) absolute commitment to its duties,” Castinetti added.Castinetti earned a bachelor?s degree in business administration from Merrimack College in 1969 and his master?s in management from Lesley University in 1981.?Do not be misled by those who want to hijack the town,” Castinetti said. “In spite of the roadblocks, interference and lack of cooperation from the former administration, this board has pushed on and is making significant progress toward the betterment of our town, not the attainment of our personal issues.”He encouraged voters to go to the polls and vote against the recall and for Ellen Faiella, Maureen Dever, Paul Allan and him to continue to move Saugus in the direction voters called for in 2013, he said.
