SAUGUS – Selectman Maureen Dever is running to retain her position in Tuesday?s recall election. The recall came about after four of the five board members – all except Debra Panetta – voted last October to terminate former town manager Scott Crabtree.?This decision was not taken lightly and came after 11 months of trying to work together to better our community,” Dever said.Serving nearly 30 years in government, Dever?s experience includes representing Precinct 3 as a Town Meeting member, as well as her role on the Saugus Board of Health and the Finance Committee.Dever said she doesn?t believe in tearing others down to win an election, nor does she support tearing the town of Saugus down to affect change.?How will history look back upon this time in Saugus?” she said. “Will it see that a board of selectmen was recalled for carrying out their duties under the Saugus Town Charter? Will we continue to make decisions based on fears and not facts, on friendships and loyalty or will we finally move Saugus forward?”She urged residents to vote against the recall and for her on March 17.?(The) vote on March 17 will forever impact the future of Saugus,” Dever said. “I believe in this community and see so much potential for all that it can be if people would just put their animosity and anger aside and work together for the common good.”Dever has been a registered nurse for 33 years. She has been married for 34 years, and she and her husband, Steven, have one son, Ryan.
