March 14, 2015 by Matthew Roy

The semifinal rounds of the Lynn Elementary School Tournament begins this morning at Pickering Middle School, but the final day of preliminary round games provided plenty of excitement.
The opening game of the day was in the boys? Division 2 competition. Washington?s Emil Bruno scored 10 points to lead his team to a 26-13 win over Drewicz. Willie Miller added six for Washington while Matt Carillo had seven points for Drewicz.
Washington advances to play Hood next Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Next up was another Division 2 boys? battle. Brickett dominated from start to finish in a 28-12 win over Callahan. Warren Acceus was nearly unstoppable for Brickett, finishing with 18 points to lead his team into a game next Friday against Tracy at 5:30 p.m.
The game of the tournament followed as Lincoln-Thomson and Lynn Woods put on a fantastic battle in a boys? Division 3 matchup.
Lynn Woods ran out to a 13-4 halftime lead but went scoreless for nearly 11 minutes in the second half as Lincoln-Thomson rattled off eight straight points to get within one. But L-T couldn?t complete the comeback as Steven Newell?s potential winning shot came just after the buzzer in a 19-18 Lynn Woods win, which earned a spot against Aborn next Friday at 6:30 p.m.
In the final game of the day, Sewell-Anderson led from start to finish in a 38-6 victory over Shoemaker. David Brown?s 12 points led nine Sewell-Anderson players who scored.Matthew Roy may be reached at [email protected]. Follow him on Twitter@MRoy_1006.
