March 16, 2015 by Tara Vocino

The Saugus recall election is Tuesday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For each of the four incumbents up for recall, voters will be asked to vote for or against the recall of the selectman. They will then vote for either the incumbent or one of two challengers. INCUMBENTSPaul H. Executive officer of Saugus Veterans Council and chairman of Saugus United Against Substance Abuse ? Served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for Saugus Public Library, Town Meeting member in Precinct 3 and Economic Development Committee member.?We need to continue to stop the corruption and misleading information that has plagued this town for decades. This current Board of Selectmen has started the process, and with the support of the voters of Saugus, we will finish this important step in order to move Saugus into the 21st century.”Stephen L. Castinetti3 Laura Lee CircleHas been employed by hibu, a digital marketing company, for 15 years, and worked in the industry for 36 years ? This not about getting Steve Castinetti elected. If all of the current members are not re-elected, then the residents and taxpayers of Saugus will ultimately be the losers.”Maureen P. Dever3 Atherton St.Has been a registered nurse for 33 years ? Married for 34 years, she and her husband, Steven, have one son, Ryan ? With close to 30 years in government, experience includes representing Precinct 3 as a Town Meeting member and member of Board of Health and Finance Committee.?How will history look back upon this time in Saugus? Will it see that a Board of Selectmen was recalled for carrying out their duties under the Saugus Town Charter? Will we continue to make decisions based on fears and not facts, on friendships and loyalty, or will we finally move Saugus forward?”Ellen L. Faiella4 McLean RoadLifelong resident of Saugus ? Married to William, they have two adult children, Monica and Michael, and three grandchildren, Julia, Alex and Lilah ? Works as lead at the TSA Precheck Enrollment Center at MorphoTrust USA ? Said she is running because she feels the recall election is unnecessary and only serves to disrupt the progress of Saugus.?I have served on Town Meeting, School Committee, the Board of Health and the Board of Selectmen. The town currently has a wrongful termination lawsuit with a town manager?s contract until April 2018 and voted to put in place a second contract until 2018. What was the rush?
