Elementary School Tournament finals take shape

The semifinal round of the Lynn Elementary School Tournament on Saturday packed plenty of excitement into the gym at Pickering Middle School.
The first game of the day was a Division 1 boys? semifinal between Harrington and Cobbet, and it was all Hornets. Ali Barry scored nine points to lead Harrington to a 31-17 win and a date against either Connery or Sisson in the championship final on Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
Jeter Sanchez had 12 for Cobbet in the loss.
Next up was a Division 1 girls? semifinal, with Ingalls and Connery tied at halftime. It was still neck-and-neck until the final moments, when Kiana Kwenda scored with 1.3 seconds left to win it for Connery.
Connery?s opponent in the girls? final on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. will be Sisson, as the Eagles ran out to a 16-4 lead at halftime against Ford and cruised to a 24-7 victory. Madison Atton had eight for Sisson, which also got six from Noelia Rosado.
In the first Division 2 girls? semifinal of the day, Callahan opened up a 15-8 lead against Hood and advanced to the finals with a 23-13 victory. Nalisaia Mazariegos had 10 points to lead the victors while Joseiris Chiari had six for Hood.
The other semifinal was a defensive slugfest as Brickett held Tracy scoreless in the first half. But the Eagles return the favor in the second half to take a 6-2 win and a berth in the finals on Saturday at 3 p.m.
In a Division 3 girls? semifinal, it was a battle to the wire between Lynn Woods and Lincoln-Thomson. Lynn Woods held an 8-4 lead at halftime but Lincoln-Thomson rallied to take a 14-13 win and a spot in the final against Sewell-Anderson on Saturday at 10 a.m.Molly Mannion had eight in the loss for Lynn Woods while Cassie Clinton scored six points for Lincoln-Thomson.
