They led their respective teams to Northeastern Conference divisional titles along with North titles and a state title in one case. For those efforts, Danvers? Peter Merry and Winthrop?s Kristen Siscamanis were named the boys? and girls? NEC Player of the Year as the league announced its all-stars on Tuesday.
Salem?s Tom Doyle was named the boys? Coach of the Year while Beverly?s Allison Flynn was acknowledged as the girls? Coach of the Year.
Merry was a driving force in the paint for the unbeaten Falcons as Danvers won its third state championship in the last four seasons. Teammates Devan Harris and Vinnie Clifford were named to the NEC All-Conference team.
Joining them were Lynn English?s backcourt duo of Erick Rosario and Anthony Silfa, both of whom scored their 1,000thcareer point this season, and Salem?s Bryan Martinez.
Siscamanis was the heart-and-soul of a Vikings team that won the Division 3 North title before giving eventual state champion Archbishop Williams a fight in the Eastern Mass. final.
The girls? all-conference team was comprised of Salem?s Jackie Panneton, Courtney Bua of Peabody, Winthrop?s Nina Bartlette, Revere?s Tiphani Harris and Beverly?s Melissa Lubas.
The NEC/North boys? all-stars were Johnny Hilaire, Stevie Collins, Jordan Lark (English); Kelven Perpetuo, Jhonel Roberts (Salem); Peter Mafo, Strati Saranteas (Lynn Classical); Gavin Sparkman (Beverly); Matt Correale (Peabody) and Tommy Chea (Revere).
The NEC/South boys? selections were Devonn Allen, Rashad Francois, Mike Nestor (Danvers); Cian Saunders, Angel Perez (Marblehead); Andrew Muniz, John Philpott (Gloucester); Dan Cacciola (Saugus); Dajour Dunkley (Swampscott) and Jake Chuidina (Winthrop).
On the girls? side, the NEC/North all-stars were Maritza Scott, Adanna Hector, Pam Gonzalez (Revere); Ashley Augulewicz, Natalie Mellinger (Beverly); Marina Demild, Melissa Gray (Peabody); Chenysse Hill (Classical) and Waleska Muriel (English).
The NEC/South all-stars were Niki Tsiotis, Poli Tsiotis, Maura Lanza (Winthrop); Colby Shea, Lindsay Walker (Marblehead); Devan Walsh, Nicole White (Danvers); Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott); Julianna Costanzo (Gloucester) and Mikayla Niles (Saugus).Saugus was the team sportsmanship recipient for the boys and girls.
