NAHANT – The Nahant Board of Selectmen have unanimously voted to approve a contract with Jeffrey Chelgren to become the town?s new town administrator.?We?re looking forward to working with Jeff, and getting the checks completed,” Selectman Chairman Perry Barrasso said about the contract, which was signed Thursday. “Everything went well. We reviewed his contract prior to the meeting. Jeff?s excited to get to work again.”Chelgren, a Lynn resident, is the former town administrator of Marblehead.Vice Chairman Michael Manning said Nahant is ready to have him on board.?Jeff?s status remains unseen,” said Manning. “It takes time to warm up to the community and to get up to speed. But we have a sense by what?s in his resume.”Manning said the discussion went smoothly.The contract is pending standard reference, CORI and background checks. Chairman Perry Barrasso said he anticipates the checks to be complete by this week?s meeting – or, hopefully, sooner, depending on when they are processed.Once the checks are complete, Chelgren can sign the contract and be sworn in.
