The case of the Marblehead turkeysA plague? A suicidal rafter cult? A serial killer with a taste for poultry? The March 17 log entry was vague: “A Village Street caller reports several dead turkeys in front of her house.””Highway notified.””(Caller) says turkeys are in three different spots so it seems unlikely that a car ran them over. (Caller) said it almost looks like they ripped each other apart. (Caller) said that there are 10-12 other turkeys in the area.”Thankfully, it sounded worse than it was.”It wasn’t 10-12 dead turkeys,” Marblehead Police Chief Robert Picariello said. He explained that three turkeys were found dead, but the caller reported a group of 10-12 turkeys (technically called a rafter, according to the United States Geological Survey’s Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center) frequented the neighborhood – and that group was very much alive. But Picariello acknowledged the animal control officer arrived at the scene after the birds had been removed.”On the turkey front; we don’t know,” Picariello said, laughing. “I called animal control to check – honestly, I have higher priorities than a dead turkey – but the call came in before she got on duty, and when she got there, they had already been removed.”Needless to say, the turkey’s next of kin couldn’t talk. But Picariello seemed suspicious … noting the turkeys, which can weigh up to 20 pounds, can be mean.”I’ve seen them chase a mailman.”But the likely culprit, according to homeowner Bill Strauss on Sunday, was a dog … and that made him a little sad.Affordable, oceanfront college is the ?American Dream'”The American Dream,” the LynnCAM show hosted by attorney James J.
