Lynn, Swampscott students help kick off new NSCC programsNorth Shore Community College’s new Middleton culinary and cosmetology programs counted plenty of Lynn-area students in their ranks for Monday’s grand opening. Lynn chefs Cody Dexter, Lais Zacarias, Laurens Guerrier, and Claire Donnelly were there along with Swampscott student chef Allison Stephens. Cosmetology students included Angelica Suno of Lynn and Ambar Sosa along with Aja Carey of Swampscott, Jessica Capozzi of Saugus and Jackie Silva and Nicci Muse of Peabody.Students prepared sample foods and offered complimentary cosmetology treatments on Monday.Wright out the door for retiring city workerLynn Parking Department executive secretary Mary Wright called it a day – and a career – on Monday when she retired after 29 years spent working for the city. Wright will divide her retirement between her six grandchildren while continuing to serve as clerk to the city Traffic Commission.Half Moon hits the high seasThe Half Moon, a replica of Henry Hudson’s vessel which is in town to shoot a pilot for HBO, set out to sea on Monday afternoon, motoring out of Lynn Harbor and taking a spin around the Spindle off of Nahant.Unfortunately, a pair of Dutch sailors appeared to have missed the boat… and had to await the next voyage at Nahant Wharf.Also unfortunate; we missed a picture of the boat under sail!A new phone system gave us lots of trouble Monday, and we missed the call.
