MARBLEHEAD – The 65-year-old victim badly burned in last week’s fire on Sewall Street has died.Alexander Arcuri, 65, of 13 Sewall St. died Monday, according to an Essex District Attorney spokesperson.Police and fire responded at 9:15 p.m. March 24 to the home and found flames coming out a second-floor window of a 2? story building at the corner of Jersey and Sewall streets.Marblehead Fire Capt. Michael Porter said that the first firefighters on the scene saw tenants and neighbors yelling and pointing to the flames saying that somebody was still up on the second floor. Crews raced up and had to force open the door.”As soon as they got into the apartment, (the deceased) was found unconscious on the floor right in front of the door,” Porter said.Porter described the victim’s injuries simply as “substantial,” and the victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital by ambulance because a medical flight would take too long.Porter said that fire investigators have determined the fire was started by cooking and was accidental.
