Lynn Seaport Landing set for DeNiro

Thor Jourgensen

April 6, 2015 by Thor Jourgensen

LYNN – Seaport Landing since Saturday has been the latest local site for shooting “Kay?s Baptism,” the star-studded film in production around the city and the state for the last month.City Harbormaster James Perry confirmed a sailboat and several other boats arrived at the city marina last Friday night and said producers planned to set up equipment in preparation for tentatively filming a scene aboard the boat today.?It will be on a sailboat, that?s all I know,” Perry said.Starring Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Diane Ladd, “Kay?s Baptism” – also tilted “Joy” in film company press statements – tells the multi-generational tale of cleaning product inventor Joy Mangano.Publicist Cynthia Kovalesky described the production as “a closed set” and said she could not comment on film production details, but the sailboat scene is reportedly a pivotal part of the movie involving Lawrence accidentally spilling red wine on the boat?s expensive teak deck and resolving to invent a miracle cleaning product.?Kay?s Baptism” filmed in the former Johnnie?s Foodmaster parking lot on Boston Street on March 10 with movie crews converting the future Planet Fitness building into a Kmart. English High School was also tapped for a movie scene and and the Item building on Exchange Street is a mid April filming site.Perry said in addition to the sailboat that docked Friday at Seaport, two workboats and vessel similar to the commuter ferry boat docked in the marina. The harbormaster is no stranger to movie crews: An HBO production crew brought in a 17th-century replica sailing ship two weeks ago to film a scene for “The Devil You Know,” a television pilot based on the Salem Witch Trials.?I?m totally amazed at some of the setup procedures they use,” Perry said.
