School Roundup: Fenwick boys’ lax falls in overtime

The Bishop Fenwick boys? lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker in overtime at home, 11-10, to Austin Prep on Saturday. The loss drops Fenwick to 1-1 on the young season.Chris Napolitano led Fenwick with four goals and one assist.Aidan Moulton was right behind with three goals and one assist. Mark Nalesnik added two goals, while Jake Mitchell scored one.Goaltender Dylan Miata stopped 17 shots in the loss.BOYS’ LACROSSEMalden Catholic 6, Beverly 5 (OT)Beverly fell in overtime to a strong MC team on Saturday. The Panthers coughed up a three-goal lead in the second half to let the Lancers back in the game before giving up the game-winner in overtime.Beverly (2-1) had two great chances to either win the game or put the game away late in regulation, but couldn?t execute.Hunter Spencer scored two goals for the Panthers. Sam Abate, Jordan Rawding, and Ian Butler each added one goal. Clinton Cabral notched one assist. Goaltender Jacob Lopez had 13 saves on 19 shots in the loss.Peabody 13, Medford 0The Tanners cruised to an easy victory in their first game of season, blanking Medford on the road Saturday. Goalie Matt Cloutman recorded 10 saves and the shutout.Josh Fiore led the Tanners with four goals and three assists.Reed Foster notched three goals and one assist and Frank Falco scored two goals. Zach Dillie scored a goal and had two assists.GIRLS? LACROSSEAustin Prep 12, Bishop Fenwick 11Bishop Fenwick came up just short against Austin Prep on Saturday, dropping to 1-1 on the season.Merry Harrington led the way for the Crusaders with seven goals. Tori Hernandez, Molly Camelo, Cobli Flickinger, and Meghan Carney scored one goal each in the loss. Goaltender Colleen Corcoran recorded 12 saves on 22 shots.POSTPONEMENTSAmong games that were scheduled to be played Saturday:The Peabody at St. John?s Prep baseball game has been postponed until April 23 at 10 a.m. and has been moved to Peabody.The Everett at Revere baseball game has been postponed until May 30 at 4 p.m.The Revere at Medford softball game has been postponed until May 30 at noon.Mike Alongi can be reached at [email protected].
