Jennifer Lawrence, De Niro in Lynn for movie

Thor Jourgensen

April 7, 2015 by Thor Jourgensen

LYNN – Tom Quinn Jr. got a passing glance at Hollywood fame Monday when actress Jennifer Lawrence walked by him on her way to shoot a scene on a sailboat docked in Seaport Landing marina.OK. Someone had to point out to Quinn that Lawrence was the woman who passed him as he walked his dog next to 154 Lynnway; but a movie star is a movie star and Quinn caught a glimpse of one.Lawrence and Robert De Niro were on the city?s waterfront to shoot a scene for a movie tentatively entitled “Kay?s Baptism,” based on the real-life story of entrepreneur Joy Mangano, played by Lawrence.Filmmakers set up a movie-theater-size screen and spotlights on one of Seaport?s docks within full view of Quinn of Lynn insurance office employees. For Quinn and his co-workers, movie-making has almost become a regular event around the city?s marina.HBO producers brought a replica sailing ship into the marina two weeks ago to shoot a television pilot based on the Salem Witch Trials and Johnny Depp came to the nearby Porthole Pub last June to shoot the gangster movie “Black Mass.” Crews have shot in Christies restaurant at the Nahant Rotary on several occasions this year.?Kay?s Baptism” crew members were based out of the Porthole again on Monday and the signs directing crew members to the Porthole lot and the dockside activity caught Seaport worker Marcia Brennan?s attention. She tried to catch a glimpse of Lawrence or her co-stars during her lunch break.?It?s fun to have them out there. People should appreciate that the movie industry wants to use places around here,” the Atlantic Coast Ophthalmology employee said.Thomas Gallery of Nahant owns a Seaport Landing business condominium and said Hollywood?s ongoing romance with Lynn is good for local businesses. He said movie crew members spend money locally and bystanders drawn to movie locations get a chance to see what Lynn has to offer.?I think it?s great for Lynn: The more of this they do, the better,” he said.
