April 28, 2015 by Matthew Roy

It was an old-fashioned pitchers duel at Seaside Park in Marblehead on Monday between Lynn English?s Jeam Castillo and the Magicians? Ted Camp.
Castillo gave up just four hits over 5 1/3 innings. But Camp carried a no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning before settling for a one-hit shutout as the Magicians beat the Bulldogs, 1-0.
?It was a great game and it was well played by both teams,” Marblehead coach Jason Tarasuik said. “Teddy pitched great. He had great command of his fastball and changeup.”
The only run came in the bottom of the fourth on a double by Spencer Carr that scored James McCarthy. The Bulldogs? Lucas Harris spoiled Camp?s no-hitter with a single to left in the seventh.
?We got dominated on the mound, something that hasn?t happened to us in a long time,” English (4-3) coach Joe Caponigro said. “Jeam pitched a good game but give a lot of credit to Camp, he pitched a heck of a game.”
Lynn Classical 6, Saugus 1
The Rams (6-1) broke open a one-run game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Matt Lauria?s two-run double extended the Classical lead to 4-1. Carlos Perez also drove in a run during the outburst.
Classical?s Herbie Newton went the distance, striking out six and allowing three hits.Arlington Catholic 5, St. Mary?s 3 (9 innings)
The Spartans (5-4) lost in extra innings for the second straight game. St. Mary?s Brendan O?Neill pitched eight innings with five strikeouts and two earned runs. Antonio Felix?s single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth tied the score, 1-1. But AC scored four in the ninth.
Swampscott 6, Salem 1
Corey Bleau threw a complete game four-hitter while Leo Wile drove in two runs as the Big Blue (5-2) cruised past Salem (1-7). Ryan January went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
Peabody 13, Gloucester 0
Peabody (8-0) senior Mike Raymond carried a perfect game into the seventh inning against Gloucester (2-3). A one-out walk ended that but Raymond got his first no-hitter and the Tanners? second in as many seasons.
?Mike was just lights out,” Peabody coach Mark Bettencourt said. “His fastball was exploding out of his hand and his breaking ball was sharp. I don?t think he had to throw a changeup all day.”
The defense helped including center fielder Bobby Tramondozzi?s leaping catch and shortstop Ryan Collins? sidearm throw on a chopper behind the mound moments.
Collins (three hits, three runs, RBI), Matt Gonick (3-for-4, three RBIs, three runs scored), David Hoar (2-for-4, two-run home run), Tramondozzi (two hits, two runs, RBI) and Tanner Moquin (2-for-3 , two RBIs) contributed offensively.
Archbishop Williams 9, Bishop Fenwick 7
Williams scored seven runs in its final two at-bats to beat Fenwick (3-4). Simon Gonzalez had a three-run home run for Fenwick, which also got RBIs from Rob Carillo, Matt Townsend, Mike Campatelli and R.J. Libby.
St. John?s Prep 3, Malden Catholic 1
The Catholic Conference-leading Eagles (8-2, 4-0) scored three times in the third inning against Peabody?s Austin Batchelor and that was more than enough for Justin Foley, who won for the fourth time in as many starts, scattering seven hits in a complete game effort.
Nick Latham and Ted McNamara each drove in a run for St. John?s.
Beverly 3, Winthrop 0
Beverly?s Dylan Stevens carried a no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning, and the Panthers (4-3) scored three runs in the second. David Drinkwater had a two-run triple.
Danvers 14, Revere 5Jordan DiDonato had three hits and two RBI for Danvers (5-2). Andrew Olszak, Devonn Allen and Tim Unczur each had two hits and Andrew Dunn went five innings giving up two hits with four strikeouts.
