LYNN – A judge ordered $5,000 cash bail for a city man police said attacked a homeowner during an armed robbery.Daren Gallahair, 30, of 36 Phillips Ave., was arrested and charged with armed burglary at 10:13 p.m. Saturday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge Monday in Lynn District Court.Police reported responding to an armed robbery at a Carnes Street address at 10:13 p.m. Saturday and hearing somebody yelling for help. Police found two men on the basement floor fighting, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Edward Tansey.?Gallahair was yelling at (the alleged victim) ?I?m gonna kill you!?” the alleged victim told police in a report. “The defendant stated that when he confronted Gallahair that Gallahair attempted to stab him with one of the metal files.”Police said the alleged victim was “bleeding profusely” from a head injury and both he and Gallahair had scratches all over their faces. Officers reported finding a metal file, a tire iron and a plastic flashlight that was broken into several pieces on the floor.The alleged victim reportedly told police his home was broken into earlier in the week and, earlier that evening, he heard someone trying to pry open his front door. The alleged victim called 911 and went into the basement, according to police. The homeowner then allegedly heard and saw Gallahair coming down the stairs with a flashlight and punched the defendant in the head. Gallahair allegedly then hit the victim in the head with a hard object and the two began fighting. The alleged victim was taken to Union Hospital for treatment, police said.Gallahair, who police said was wearing latex gloves and carrying a trash bag, allegedly said the defendant?s former roommate told him to break into the house.Judge David Dunbar Livingston ordered $5,000 cash bail and that the defendant have no contact with the alleged victim.Gallahair is scheduled to return to court May 26.
