Lynner found shot to death in Wakefield

A 30-year-old Lynn man has been identified as the victim of a homicide in Wakefield Tuesday.Jeffrey Raphael, of Lynn, was found dead Tuesday evening inside an SUV in a wooded area near a residential neighborhood off Sunset Street in Wakefield, Wakefield Police Chief Richard Smith and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Wednesday afternoon.Officers responded to a 911 call at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday from a passer-by in the area, and officers reported finding a dead man with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. Law-enforcement officials said they did not believe the incident was a random act of violence.Raphael was out on $25,000 bail from a 2013 case originating in Lynn where he was charged with multiple drug counts, including cocaine trafficking and gun charges. It was the latest in a string of cases in Lynn District Court stemming back to 2001, according to court records. He was indicted and scheduled to go on trial for the charges Sept. 28. His attorney declined to comment.
