Veterans salute Nahant resident’s essay in contestAmerican Legion Post 215 Commander Clarke Orzalli and William Cullen, senior vice commander, in association with the Nahant Veterans Association, have named Kristian Hosker, a senior at St. John’s Prep and resident of Nahant, the winner of an essay contest with a $500 scholarship prize. The contest called for students to “interview a veteran from Nahant or Post 215 and write an essay on how your impression of service has been enlightened based on that interview.” Kristian was honored at a ceremony at Nahant Town Hall on Saturday. In attendance were his parents, Thomas Hosker and Kathryn Koyugias, brother, Harrison Hosker, and grandmother, Marie Hosker. The American Legion is a federally chartered organization founded in Paris in 1919 by veterans of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), promoting national security, patriotism and devotion to veterans.
