Marblehead spotted the Tanners a four-goal lead before rebounding for the win, 11-8, led by Brooks Tyrrell?s five goals on Thursday.
?We kind of didn?t get off the bus in the first quarter,” said Marblehead (7-4) coach John Wilkens. “But the kids responded pretty well when we got behind. It was a good lacrosse team. Peabody always has a good team over there.”
Peabody (6-6) came out fast and led 4-2 after one but when Marblehead switched to a zone defense, it gave the Magicians a chance to slow the Tanners down. Marblehead outscored the Tanners, 6-0, in the second to carry a four-goal lead into halftime.
The Tanners kept battling but were never able to get all the way back in the second half despite a four-goal game from Bobby Caproni. Josh Fiore added two goals and an assist.
Andy Clough and Manning Sears scored twice for Marblehead, which got 21 stops in goal from Nathan Maselek.

The Patriots (1-8) trailed 6-1 at halftime but put together a solid second half in the loss to the Sachems.
Beverly 9, Gloucester 7
The Panthers (9-3) led 8-2 at halftime but had to hang on down the stretch as the Fishermen rallied in the fourth quarter. Clinton Cabral had a hat trick and an assist to pace the Beverly offense with Hunter Spencer adding a goal and three assists.
Sam Abate chipped in a goal and an assist for Beverly. Gloucester (4-6) was led by two goals and an assist each by Cormack Flickinger and Tom Donahue.
St. John?s Prep 7, Boston College High 6 (2 OT)
After seeing a 5-2 lead disappear in the second half, the Eagles (5-7) got a much-needed win when P.J. Lombara scored early in the second overtime. Owen Rockett?s three goals and two assists paced the Prep offense, which also got two goals from Mitchell Carpenter and a goal and an assist by K.J. Sarni.
