Tennis Roundup: Classical girls roll past Somerville

The Lynn Classical girls (7-1) continued their streak of consistent all-around play with a 4-1 win on the road at Somerville on Thursday. Classical grabbed two singles? wins and both doubles? wins en route to the victory.
Anna Athanasopoulos won in first singles, 6-2, 7-5. In third singles, Kayla O?Brien battled for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win.
In doubles, the Rams? Shea Dunnigan and Briana Silva too the first match (6-4, 6-2). The team of Ashley Noel and Zoe Raymond won the second match (6-3, 6-1).
?I?m just really pleased with the consistency the girls continue to show,” said Classical coach Cathy Ellis. “The competition has been getting tougher and they?ve continued to produce.”

Hamilton-Wenham 5, St. Mary?s 0
The Spartans (6-9) ran into a buzzsaw at Hamilton-Wenham. St. Mary?s Mia Nikolakopoulos put up a good fight in singles? play, while the team of Julie Shea and Kristin Tansey almost pulled out a win in doubles.
?They were just a really strong, talented team,” said St. Mary?s coach Jim McHugh.BOYS? TENNIS
Lynn Classical 3, Revere 2
Lynn Classical remained perfect in conference play at 4-0 (4-5 overall) with a close win at home over Revere (3-5).The match came down to Rams? freshman Moses Ba?s singles? match, and he delivered a 6-4, 6-4 win to seal the victory.
?I really have to hand it to Moses,” said Classical coach Chris Hayward. “It all came down to his match and he showed a lot of character and heart to get that win.”
Calvin Cheung also grabbed a win in first singles (6-0, 6-2). The duo of Patrick Gibb and SimonKazimierczyk got the doubles win (6-3, 6-1) for Classical.
The winners for Revere were Mateo Lopez (second singles) and the team of David Grujic and David Henao (first doubles).
St. John?s 5, Xaverian 0
The Eagles (8-0) kept their undefeated record alive with a convincing. Scott Riester won the first singles? match (2-6, 6-0, 7-5). Mikey Prokopis won the second singles? match (6-4, 6-1) and Evan Maguire won the third singles match (6-1, 6-2).
