Girls’ Lacrosse Roundup: St. Mary’s fights hard but falls to Lowell Catholic

Despite a one-goal lead at halftime and what coach Al Eaton said was his squad?s best performance of the season, St. Mary?s fell to Lowell Catholic, 11-7, on Friday. It was a “heartbreaking loss,” Eaton said.
Maggie Flaherty and Sophya Fuccione both completed hat tricks for St. Mary?s (3-8) which also got a solo goal from Liz Weisse as well as 10 saves from Emma Harvey in net.
?Overall, we put together an outstanding team effort,” Eaton said. “I thought that today was probably our best game of the year.”
Marblehead 11, Peabody 8
Marblehead?s depth was on full display as nine Magicians graced the scoresheet, including Hadley Carlton and Corinne Mayle who scored three goals apiece, as well as Amanda Gregory who dished out four assists.
?Our offense continues to play with great composure. Every player had a role to fill today,” said Marblehead coach Annie Pugh. “We came ready to make good decisions and then improved ourselves heading into the second half.”
Lucie Poulin (two goals), Abby Settelmeyer (two assists), Carolyn Arthur, Caroline Driscoll and Ellie Ronan (a goal each) also contributed for the Magicians who improved to 7-1-1 overall, 4-0 in the Northeastern Conference.
Sarah Napolitano (three goals, assist) and Adrianna Raneri (two goals) led the offense for Peabody (5-5).Goaltender Gianna Denisco (11 saves) was outstanding for Peabody, as was her counterpart Brittany Lydon, who made five of her eight saves in the second half.
Swampscott 13, Stoneham 4
Maggie DiGrande and Ellie Wright scored three goals apiece to pace the visiting Big Blue?s offensive explosion. Priscilla Sullivan tacked on two tallies for Swampscott (5-6) which got solo goals from Sam Blank, Isabel Cilley, Emma Driscoll, Taylor McBurney and Lemon Sullivan while goaltender Claire Powell finished with 10 saves.
Salem 15, Winthrop 8
Emily Coelho?s seven-goal spectacle led the Witches (5-2). Elizabeth Roush (three goals), Nicole Sadoway (two goals), Cameron Connolly, Rebecca Cormier and Brianna Valido (one goal each) also contributed. The Witches? Sydney Rocheville made 11 saves. For the Vikings (2-5), Caitlin Page and Flora English each scored three goals while Allie Carlton and Caroline McKinnnon added one each.
Beverly 9, Danvers 4
Megan Gavin (two goals, three assists) and Grace Otterbein (four assists) combined for nine points to pace the Panthers (8-2). Alicia Cecchini (two goals, assist) and Elizabeth Musumeci (goal) also factored in for Beverly, which got eight saves from Kyra Wolonsavich.
Essex Tech 10, Revere 1
The Patriots couldn?t keep up with the visiting Hawks, who got two goals from Kaleigh Stirrat.
Notre Dame (Hingham) 15, Bishop Fenwick 4The host Crusaders (7-3) fell despite three goals from Merry Harrington and a solo goal from Colleen Corcoran. The defensive trio of Jackie Hart, Nicole Muir and Emily Rocker played well in front of goaltender Meghan Carney, who made 13 saves.
