Behind a pair of doubles wins, the St. Mary?s girls? tennis team edged St. Joseph?s on Wednesday, 3-2.
Freshmen Kaitlin Foley and Taylor Hogan won the second doubles match, their first ever, 8-5. Kristin Tansey and Krysta Bertocchi took first doubles, 8-1.
Mia Nikolakopoulos won the only singles match for the Spartans (6-8), taking the third match, 8-6.
?The freshmen really looked good out there today,” said Spartans? coach Jim McHugh. “It?s definitely a good sign for the future.”
Swampscott 4, Peabody 1
Vivien Gere and Veronica Pyatigorskaya each moved up a spot in the singles? rotation and won their matches, 6-0, 6-0, for the Big Blue (9-2).
Anya Peterson and Michelle Snyder took first doubles, 6-1, 6-0, and Juliette Albo and Sara Cunningham won second, 6-0, 6-0.

Meredith MacDonald got the first win for the Rams (10-2) with a 6-4, 6-3 win in second singles. Lizzie Troisi made her varsity singles? debut in the third match, winning 6-0, 6-1. The second doubles team of Ashley Noel and Zoe Raymond also won, 6-2, 6-1.
?It was a really competitive match today,” said Classical coach Cathy Ellis. “It could?ve gone either way out there.”
Marblehead 5, Salem 0
Marblehead (9-2) lost its No. 1 singles player to illness, but still managed a win over Salem. Megan Ryan moved up to first singles and won, 6-1, 6-1. Julia Channing also had to move up and took second singles, 6-2, 6-2. Lily Frontero, usually a doubles player, stepped into third singles and won, 6-1, 6-1.
Hannah Cohen and Meagan Hanratty won first doubles, 6-0, 6-0. Lindsay Walker took Frontero?s place on the second doubles team with Sammi Gilberg, and they won, 6-0, 6-1.

Sophie Claus won the first singles match, 6-2, 6-2 for Beverly (6-3). Caroline Joseph won second singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Madison Tremblay won third singles, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles play, Carly Blau and Julia Silveria won, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Alison Lewandowski and Kira Kennedy took the second match, 6-4, 6-2.
Lynnfield 5, Ipswich 0
The unbeaten Pioneers (12-0) have now won 33 straight. Kelley Nevils won the first singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Katie Nevils and Olivia Skelley, usually a doubles team, both moved up to singles play. Nevils won, 6-0, 6-0, while Skelley won, 6-1, 6-2.
Lynnfield brought out four new players for their doubles combinations. Camie Foley and Katie Nugent won the first match, 6-3, 6-3, while Allison Carey and Haley Timmons won the second, 6-0, 6-3.
?We moved some things around today, and it was good to get the girls some different exposure,” said Lynnfield coach Craig Stone. “It was a good win top to bottom.”
Bishop Fenwick 5, Matignon 0
Bishop Fenwick (8-3) qualified for the state tournament as Kerry Kircher, Jamie Towns and Tara LaCross each won their singles matches by a score of 8-2. The first doubles team of Olivia Comeau and Megan McGunigle won, 8-1. Abby Graumann and Laura Pasquale also won their match, 8-1.
?We?re happy to make the tournament, but we still have a lot of work to do if we?re going to advance,” said Fenwick coach Paula Hannon.
Winthrop 3, Revere 2
Revere (1-11) fought hard but couldn?t close the deal at home against Winthrop. Hanadi Kobilic won the second singles match, 6-4, 6-4.
