The Lynn English softball team looked like it was set to grab its first victory of this season on Wednesday at Mack Park against Salem.
The Bulldogs led, 3-2, heading to the bottom of the seventh but the Witches rallied to win, 4-3.
?It?s kind of unbelievable,” English coach Jack Bartlett said. “We?re still improving but the record doesn?t show that.”
The Bulldogs (0-10) trailed, 2-1, through four innings but rallied to take a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Shanna Zeramby pitched well for English, allowing one earned run on five hits.
Rachel Calnan had the big bat for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. Jill Bowden and Sam Holey also had hits.
Williams 1, St. Mary?s 0
The Spartans (9-2) were held to three hits ? one each from Michaela Hamill, Vanessa VanBuskirk and Mollie Mello ? as they fell to the Bishops.
Mia Nowicki struck out 10 and held Williams to three hits over six innings.
Lynn Tech 24, Minuteman 19
The Tigers (2-6) won for the second game in a row as Mehrin Houston was 5-for-6 with a two-run homer, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Yenifer Rodriguez added a 3-for-3, four RBI day and Meagan LeBlanc was 4-for-6 with three RBIs and four runs scored.
Swampscott 7, Danvers 5
The Big Blue (8-4) kept pace with NEC/South leader Marblehead thanks to a big day from second baseman Christina King, who was 2-for-3 and belted a grand slam as part of a five-run first.
Kasey Kennedy was 2-for-4 while Alanna Burke made two huge catches in the outfield, the last of which came in the bottom of the seventh with Danvers threatening.
Gloucester 7, Saugus 1
The Sachems (4-7) got solid pitching from Shannon Gayron and Brooke Westmoreland but errors led to five unearned runs for the Fishermen.
Marblehead 15, Winthrop 2 (6 innings)
The Magicians (9-2, 5-0 NEC/South) got a three-hit effort on the mound from freshman Madi Ernst in a game shortened by the mercy rule. Battery mate Ali Kappol had the hot stick, going 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and five RBIs total.
Emily Trasher was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ashley Stiles also had three hits.
Revere 12, Beverly 5
In the first of a home-and-home set, the Patriots (8-2, 8-1 NEC/North) spotted the hosts a 5-2 lead through two innings before roaring back with 10 unanswered runs.
Ally Hinojosa led the comeback with four RBIs while Sabrina Palermo slammed the door on Beverly down the stretch. Hannah Silvestri was 3-for-3 with a solo homer for the Panthers.
Bishop Fenwick 21, Matignon 7 (6 innings)
The Crusaders (8-4) got a monster game from first baseman Lucy Mastromatteo, who went 4-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs scored. Shortstop Mikayla Porcaro was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored.Gaby Hart was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Natalie Medros struck out seven and walked one to get the win in the circle.
