REVERE – Police arrested eight juveniles following a brawl involving at least 300 people at Revere Beach Sunday night. They were placed in custody at Massachusetts State Police barracks. An arraignment is set for Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Chelsea District Court.Dozens of police – including state troopers, transit, and officers from Revere, Boston, Winthrop, Lynn and Chelsea – lined the bandstand near 6 p.m. after a large disturbance broke out.Lt. Kevin Bibeau, of the State Police, said he heard of the incident around 6:15-6:30 p.m., traveling from Salisbury.?There was some sort of large disturbance,” Bibeau said. “I heard bits and pieces on the radio of what happened when I was traveling here. I saw some of the excitement.”Bibeau didn?t hear that any weapons were fired, and he said there were no reported injuries. He said his job was to make sure people visiting were allowed to leave the premises.?I?m trying to maintain some sort of order,” Bibeau said. “There?s a large volume of traffic, including foot and vehicle, coming into the area. We have to make sure that there is emergency access in case of an emergency.”Bibeau said the beach is one of the most diverse areas in Massachusetts with lots of different people coming to the beach. But according to a 15-year-old Boston woman, “the police asked everyone to leave, because they found alcohol on the beach from an older guy.?It?s not that we didn?t want to leave, but it?s a public beach. We wanted to go swimming, because it?s hot out. We wanted to have fun,” she said. The juveniles were held for trespassing, because they were refusing to leave.Several roads, from the Revere Beach Circle to the State Police barracks, were shut down for more than an hour.
