Lacrosse Roundup: Fenwick girls are tournament bound

The Bishop Fenwick girls? lacrosse team spread its offense around against St. Mary?s Monday as several players contributed in the 15-6 win, which qualified the Crusaders for the tournament. Merry Harrington and Molly Camelo both had four goals each for Fenwick (9-5), and Hannah Durkin and Alex Butler both had two. Tori Hernandez, Colleen Corcoran and Emily Rocker each had one goal. Goalie Meghan Carney had 10 saves for Fenwick.
Maggie Flaherty and Ellie Martin each scored twice for the Spartans (7-10), and Paige Fielding and Liz Weisse netted one apiece. Brittany McPherson had 14 saves in the net for St. Mary?s.Swampscott 13, Blackstone Valley Tech 1
The Big Blue traveled all the way out to Upton for their big victory over Blackstone Valley. Taylor McBurney, Sam Blank and Julia Massey all had two goals each for Swampscott (7-8) . Maggie DiGrande, Ellie Wright, Niamh Lang and Priscilla Sullivan also scored for the Big Blue. Claire Powell shut down the opposition?s offense and made 12 saves in the net for Swampscott.
Marblehead 11, Lexington 10
It was a tight one in Lexington as the Magicians (9-2) pulled out the victory. Hadley Carlton led the scoring for Marblehead with four goals and an assist. Caroline Driscoll had three goals and an assist, and Amanda Gregory, Abbey Settelmeyer, Corinne Mayle, Niamh Healy and Lucie Poulin each had one goal. Goalie Brittany Lydon made 13 saves.
?We came out to win today and played smart lacrosse,” said Marblehead coach Annie Pugh. “We continue to improve with each game and practice. We battled back and chipped away at the score. It was a great win. Lexington is talented and well-coached so we knew we had to play tough from the very first whistle.”
Beverly 15, Gloucester 3
Megan Gavin had four goals for the Panthers (11-2), Elizabeth Musumeci scored twice and Grace Otterbein had three goals and an assist. Alicia Cecchini had two goals for Beverly, and Anna Hayden, Marita Smallman and Maeve Blake had one each. Maddie Curran and Becca Salah both played very well for Beverly on defense.
Lily Kuhns made 14 saves for Gloucester in net. Maggie Destino, Tess Destino and Laura Johnson had one goal each.
BOYS? LACROSSE
Swampscott 8, Winthrop 5
Jason Dignan and Devin Conroy both had two goals and two assists for Swampscott (9-7), as it clinched the Northeastern Conference/South title with the win. Ryan McDermott had two goals and Andrew Dove and Sebastian Camelo had one each.
?I?m very happy for the guys,” said Swampscott coach Todd Pierce. “It was our goal to defend our title. A lot of our seniors, who were support players last year, really stepped up this season.”
Marblehead 11, Danvers 7
Brooks Tyrrell had five goals for the Magicians (10-5). Andrew McGurrin had three goals, Max Orrock scored twice, and Manning Sears scored once. Harry Craig had a goal and two assists for Marblehead.
