KIPP Academy?s Nick Gross needed only 80 pitches to spin a complete-game, two-hitter in the Panthers? 11-1 win over Academy of the Pacific Rim at Fraser Field.
?Nick was throwing a lot of strikes and we played some good defense behind him,” Panthers (3-2-1) coach Jerre Maynor said.
Gross struck out seven and walked two while his teammates pounded out 13 hits and scored all their runs over the first four innings.
Jhomar Cuevas and Fernando Barrientos had a double and a triple each to lead the offense.
?It was nice to see us get the bats going,” Maynor said.

Nick Latham belted a two-run homer in the first for St. John?s and Jacob Yish added a two-run single in the second. Nolan Webb, Frank Soucy and Drew Farris all threw solidly on the mound for the Prep.SOFTBALL
