The Danvers Falcons girls? tennis team notched two singles wins and two doubles wins in a 4-1 victory over Gloucester Friday.
Shannon Veilleux took the first singles match, 6-0, 6-0. Kelly McCarthy faced a tough opponent in second singles, but still got the win, 7-6, 6-4.
Danvers (11-8) got doubles wins from Lauren McKinnon and Molly O?Donnell (6-4, 6-1), and Emily McComb and Maria Gigli (6-2, 6-2).
?It?s been a great year for us, we?ve grown a lot,” said Danvers coach Dee Chamberlain. “We got off to a slow start, but we?ve been cruising lately.”

The host Minutemen cruised to victory, while providing the Eagles with a crash course in what kind of competition they might encounter when the Division 1 state tournament rolls around.
?(Lexington) has a very good program, and today, they gave our young guys a glimpse into how tough of a test we?re in for in the coming weeks,” said Prep coach Mark Metropolis, whose team dropped to 12-4 with the loss.
Andover 4, Marblehead 1
Marblehead didn?t have enough firepower in a non-league match against a tough Andover team. The lone win for the Magicians (12-4) came from senior captain Michael Forte in third singles, 7-5, 6-3.
?It was a very competitive match,” said Marblehead coach Elisabeth Foukal. “Every point was a good rally, with very few unforced errors from either team.”
