It hasn?t been easy for the Bulldogs, but their perseverance finally paid off on Tuesday.
Lynn English notched its first win of the season with a late-inning rally to beat Peabody, 10-7. Rachel Calnan came through with the big hit for the Bulldogs (1-18), knocking a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to break a 6-6 tie.
Shanna Zeramby got the win for English, scattering seven runs on eight hits.
?She got the big outs when she needed to,” English coach Jack Bartlett said of Zeramby, who also went 3-for-5 at the plate.
Sarah Tobin went 2-for-4, while Emma Trahant and Sam Holey each had a hit for the Bulldogs.
Freshman Mallory LeBlanc went 3-for-5 and struck out four batters in the loss for Peabody. Dawn DelBene and Taylor Santos each went 2-for-4 for the Tanners (10-9).
?(Mallory) pitched a good game, but we just made a ton of errors,” said Peabody coach Butch Melanphy.
Revere 13, Salem 1, 5 innings
Senior pitcher Sabrina Palermo struck out six and had a no-hitter going through three innings for Revere (14-4), but she had to leave after the third inning to attend the National Honor Society induction ceremony. Freshman Gia Santaniello came in to finish the game for the Patriots.
Junior catcher Juliana Cecere helped pace the offense, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Freshman first baseman Alina Giuliano also went 3-for-3, knocking in four runs.
?It was a good win for us,” said Revere coach Joe Ciccarello. “Like I told the girls, this is a good week for us to sharpen the pencils and get ready for June.”
Marblehead 4, Beverly 0
Marblehead grabbed another conference win. Emily Pittman took the loss for the Panthers (10-8), giving up two earned runs on 10 hits while striking out six. Cori Coults went 1-for-2, while Marlee Hamor, Hannah Silvestri and Olivia George each went 1-for-3 for Beverly.
