LYNN – The next phase of the redesign project on Broadway/Route 129 will begin Sunday, Lynn Police said. This phase will involve the full excavation and reconstruction of parts of Broadway and Wyoma Square. It is expected that construction will significantly impact the area for the next six to eight weeks. The first phase of this part of the project will involve work on Broadway between Magnolia and Springvale Avenues and Richardson Road. Beginning Sunday, the construction zone will go from Broadway west-bound from Magnolia to the near end of the island in Wyoma Square (approximately 10 to 20 feet beyond Richardson Road). Work will then switch to the opposite side of Broadway eastbound from Richardson Road to Springvale Avenue.Work will be conducted overnight, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and is expected to take two weeks. Road restrictions will involve the closure of Broadway between Magnolia/Springvale Avenues and Richardson Road, one side at a time.Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the side of Broadway opposite construction.Police said it is possible that construction requirements could result in the closure of traffic on Broadway in both directions for limited times. If this becomes necessary it will only occur during overnight hours when traffic volume is low.
